CT Roof & Masonry Network is an independent online directory and referral service covering all 8 Connecticut counties and every city, town and village in the state. When you request quotes here, we pass your request to independent local masonry and roofing contractors who cover your area so they can contact you directly.
What this site is not
We are not a contractor. We are not licensed or registered to perform home improvement work, we do not employ masons or roofers, we do not carry out inspections, and we do not perform, supervise, warrant or guarantee any work. Every contractor you may be introduced to through this site is an independent business, responsible for its own registration, insurance, permits, pricing, workmanship and warranty. Any contract you enter into is between you and that business: we are not a party to it.
We also do not publish reviews of our own. Any business listings and review excerpts shown on city pages come from Google and are attributed as such. Where no Google data has been loaded for a city, the listings section is simply absent: we do not fill the gap with placeholder businesses.
Why masonry comes first here
Most contractor directories treat masonry as a footnote to roofing. In Connecticut that is backwards. The state has one of the oldest housing stocks in the country, colonial fieldstone foundations, Portland brownstone, 19th-century mill brick, and tens of thousands of brick chimneys laid in soft lime mortar. Winter here crosses freezing forty or fifty times a season, and every one of those cycles works on a mortar joint, a chimney crown, a set of steps or a retaining wall. Meanwhile the shoreline adds salt air, and the Connecticut River valley adds heavy soils and a high water table that push water against foundation walls.
So masonry leads: chimneys, tuckpointing, brick and stone, foundations and waterproofing, retaining walls and steps. Roofing sits alongside it, because most Connecticut "roof leaks" actually enter at a chimney, a wall junction or a flashing detail, which is exactly where the two trades meet and exactly where responsibility usually gets passed back and forth until nobody fixes it.

Checking out a Connecticut contractor
- Verify the contractor's Home Improvement Contractor registration with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. Contractors performing home improvement work on existing Connecticut homes are generally required to hold one; requirements and exemptions are set by the state, so check DCP directly for the current rules.
- Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly by the insurer, liability and workers' compensation, not a photocopy handed to you on a clipboard.
- Get the scope in writing: materials, methods, mortar mix on older masonry, what happens to unforeseen deck or substrate damage, drainage details, clean-up and disposal.
- Confirm who pulls the permit. Permitting in Connecticut is handled town by town, so requirements differ between neighbouring towns.
- Tie the payment schedule to progress. Never pay in full up front.
- Be sceptical of anyone who knocks on your door after a storm and pressures you to sign immediately.
